Alexander and Bonin is pleased to announce an exhibition of drawings and objects by Matthew Benedict, Yves Chaudouet, Anne-Marie Schneider and David Shrigley. Drawing is the predominant medium for the four artists. Matthew Benedict: born 1968 in Rockville, CT, lives and works in New York. Benedict is known for his large scale mythic depictions of historical figures, drawn from fictional and real sources. In this exhibition, a strong integration occurs between his drawings and objects. He recently had a one-person exhibition at Alexander and Bonin. Yves Chaudouet: born 1959 in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France, lives and works in Paris. He will be exhibiting small scale objects from his daily life, travels, and dreams. The objects are fragmented and filtered of extraneous material. His recent one-person exhibitions have taken place at the Bibliotheque National and Galerie Montenay-Giroux in Paris. Anne-Marie Schneider: born 1962 in Chauny, France, she lives and works in Paris. Schneider works predominantly in line drawing and watercolor. Using the body as her form, she combines an assured line with a strain of automatism. Her work was included in Documenta X, 1997 and at the Drawing Center, New York, 1995. Recent one-person exhibitions have taken place at Fonds regional d'art contemporain de Picardie and Galerie Nelson, Paris. David Shrigley: born 1968 in England, he lives and works in Glasgow. His darkly humorous drawings and objects externalize the doubts and fears of the human condition. Recent one-person exhibitions have taken place at Yvon Lambert, Paris and Stephen Friedman Gallery, London.
